The Players Pickleball Avant FPX represents the next generation in pickleball paddles. It uses the industry standard fiberglass composite face over an all new Gel-Core polypropylene honeycomb core. The subtle textured face is familiar to most players and will feel like home to those transitioning away from other brands. The entire paddle is wrapped in our monocoque-style Exo-Frame edge guard and handle, providing plenty of sharp "pop" that is softened by the lower frequency of the poly/Gel-Core combo.
A revamped shape extends the overall length to 16.5" while weighing in at an average of 8.3 oz. The longer 5" handle allows room for additional grip positions and the narrower 7.25" width increases quickness by reducing rotating mass at the edges.
Like the rest of the Avant line, the FPX features the innovative Exo-Frame edge guard, which integrates the handle and edge guard into a single structural member.

V-Strut Handle Support
The V-Strut handle reduces torsional paddle flex, giving you better control over your shots. Rather than requiring you to compensate for paddle flex on every hit and losing precision depending on where the ball hits your paddle, the Avant FPX gives you a more direct connection with the paddle, giving you better control over the power vs. touch balance by simply adjusting the firmness of your grip and wrist.
Players Pickleball's proprietary "Gel-Core" technology has been adapted for the the Avant FPX, combining a vibration-damping and weight-distributing elastomeric material within a polypropylene honeycomb, measurably increasing the sweet spot by stabilizing the paddle on off-center hits while reducing overall vibrations.
Sweet Spot Mapping
At Players Pickleball, we take R&D seriously. We've developed a testing device that allows us to visualize a paddles sweet spot and we rely on this technique to guide our paddle development. When we talk about a sweet spot, you can rest assured that we're talking about something measurable, not just marketing talk or the subjective opinion of a paid spokesperson.
In the animated image above, you can see the location, shape, and size of the sweet spot within the Avant FPX paddle face. It shows a predictable dissipation radiating out from a large, centralized zone in the middle of the paddle.

Taking Care of Your Paddle
To ensure the long life of your paddle, there are just a few precautions to take, both on and off the court:
- Always Inspect Pickleballs. Small pieces of debris can become embedded in pickleballs during play. Embedded debris can be carried into the paddle face, causing damage. This type of damage is purely cosmetic and does not affect paddle performance or USAPA-approved status, but is not covered under our warranty. Inspect pickleballs regularly before and after play, and periodically during play.
- Avoid Ground Strikes: The worst thing you can do to a pickleball paddle is strike it into the ground. Paddles are designed to hit pickleballs, not the unforgiving earth. Repeated impacts with the ground will cause damage to the edge guard and core, which can result in loose edge guards, "soft" paddle edges, and more. Paddles with excessive edge guard damage may be considered "abused" and not be covered under warranty.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Leaving a paddle locked in the car during extreme temperatures can cause permanent and irreversible damage to the paddle. If you're as passionate about pickleball as we are, think of your paddle like you would a pet. Don't leave your paddle anywhere you wouldn't leave your dog!
If you are ordering from outside the United States, your order may be subject to additional charges related to import duties, taxes, tariffs, customs fees, and more. These fees are outside of our control and are an unfortunate reality of international commerce.
